This exhibition organized by Northwestern University in Qatar explores the transformative power and potential of creative media. Drawing from across the Arab world, it invites the visitor to engage with a number of issues that over time have both altered media and adapted to media—all with the vision of creating change. Morcos Key worked closely with the curator, Hadeel El Tayeb, to organize the content and create the visual identity of the show. Drawing inspiration from news headlines, typography creates entry points to myriad histories: from public square demonstrations to dissent in theatre, from the women’s liberation movement in 1940s Egypt to social media today. The content is presented as objects in display cases and interactive screens, inviting the visitor to participate in histories of activism and self-determination.
