Lyon Arabic Text and Lyon Arabic Display, is a new family of typefaces designed for versatile editorial use.
Khajag Apelian and Wael Morcos designed Lyon Arabic as a companion to Kai Bernau’s original design, released in 2009 and one of the earliest and most enduring collections in Commercial Type’s library.
The new typeface translates the Naskh script characteristics to a typographic context, making it ideal for long passages of texts in books and editorial design. The family is available in Text and Display versions and includes a variation, Lyon Arabic Slanted, designed to offer a different texture. Together, both cuts are expressions of one design concept mixing tradition and innovation with the ultimate goal to enrich the Arabic typographic palette.
